Holodiscus discolor
Wildflowers | Dicots | Eudicots | Rosids | Rosales | Rosaceae | Adenostoma |
Seen on the back side of Arroyo Burro and one plant on the back side of Romero Trail between Island View Trail and the road. Seen blooming in mid-June and mid-July.
The subspecies found in SB (H. d. var microphyllus) was formerly a full species (H. microphyllus) in its own right.
A bush about 6~7 feet high with many white blooms on flowerspikes. Each bloom has about 8 or 9 petals and lots of stamens.

What happened to your other pics, especially of the leaf? Otherwise the flowers by themselves look a little like chamise.

Somebody forgot to upload the png versions. WordPress degrades jpegs to the point that they are unusable inline.
