Castilleja exserta

Wildflowers Dicots Eudicots Asterids Lamiales Orobanchaceae Castilleja

Owls’ clover.

Formerly Orthocarpus purpurascens.

Formerly this genus was placed in the Scrophulariaceae (figwort) family.

Blooms in April-June, found on Blue Canyon trail in grassy meadows (several at Forebush camp), and at the start of Rattlesnake Trail.

This is, in part, a root parasite.
