Salvia mellifera

Wildflowers Dicots Eudicots Asterids Lamiales Lamiaceae Salvia

Black sage. Probably our most common sage, it looks very like S. leucophylla (purple sage) except that black sage has green leaves while purple sage has greyish ones.

First observed blooming in February.

All over our trails, but not near water.

Hybridizes with S. apiana (white sage) and S. leucophylla (purple sage)
