Seen blooming on the upper reaches of many trails. Noticed buds first in October, blooms December and January. Dried flowers (technically bracts) hang on the bush until May or June and give the appearance of a longer blooming season.

There are two common silk-tassels in our area. This one is the taller of the two, growing up to 10feet, with less hairy leaves and the flowers appear smaller.
