There were two of these, on Jesusita trail, on the Tunnel side. Seen blooming on the first day of June.
I guess it’s a fasciated head of Camissonia hirtella in the Onagraceae plant family.

Wow. It’ll do that? These were bigger than any C. hirtella I’ve seen, but about the max size according to Jepson ’93…
