Delphinium parryi

Wildflowers Dicots Ranunculales Ranunculaceae Delphinium

Purple larkspur. It shows up first about .2 miles up from Forebush camp (on the back side of cold spring trail — or 1.4 miles down from camino cielo).

It was blooming in February-June.

Seedpods already broken open in late June (even though there were still a few flowers at that point)

On 16 Apr 2011 I saw a single plant with a single white bloom standing in the middle of a patch of D. parryi. There is a white Delphinium in SB, but it is rare and is unlikely to be surrounded by purple ones. I suspect this guy to be an albino.
Note the faint yellow spots at the points of the petals.
