Juglans californica

I’ve not seen this in SB county though it is supposed to grow here. I have seen it in both Ventura and LA counties, blooming in March.

This is a rare (CNPS 4.2) species.

It may be distinguished from English Walnut by the leaves, more than 11 leaflets means California Walnut, fewer means English. It also tends to be a smaller tree than the English.
