Ribes californicum

Wildflowers Dicots Saxifragales Grossulariaceae Ribes

Ribes californicum flowerHillside Gooseberry.

This is fairly rare in the front country (I have seen one plant on Arroyo Burro trail near the top) and not much more common in the back.

I have seen it blooming in February and March, but don’t have enough sightings to make a guess of its true blooming span.

The leaves in February seem to be shiny, like those of Fuchsia-Flowered Gooseberry, and the bloom is the narrowest of the Gooseberry blooms.
