Quercus-berberidifolia-flowersScrub Oak.

There are two scrub oaks near the coast in SB, Q. berberidifolia and Q. dumosa. The first is more common inland, and the second is a rare species (CNPS 1.B1) found near the coast.

I can’t distinguish them and lump them together. Most of what I see is probably Q. berberidifolia the inland scrub oak.

(There is (at least) a third scrub oak, Q. palmeri which I’ve only seen in back country Ventura).
